Three things worth remembering
On your turn
Play one card of the lead colour face up from your hand. If you do not have a card of the lead colour, you may play any other colour - but those cards have no value in that round. You may also play a Variation Token alongside your card to change the rules for that round.
Play a Variation Token
Play one Variation Token alongside your card. The next player may play a different token to cancel it. Only one token is active at the end. The winner of the round keeps their token. All other tokens played that round are removed from the game.
Win the Round
The player with the highest card of the lead colour wins the round and draws one card from the draw pile. All cards and unused tokens from that round are discarded. The winner leads the next round.
Variation Tokens
Play this token together with a low value card to change the rules of the round to "lowest card wins." The lowest value card of the lead colour wins the round. Play this token when you are holding low-value cards and want to change the result of the round.
Play this token together with an even-number card to make all odd-number cards (1, 3, 5, 7) have no value for this round. The highest even number card of the lead colour wins the round. Play this token when the player who is likely to win is holding an odd-numbered card.
Play this token together with any number equal to or lower than 5. The highest value card is 5 of the lead colour. Numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 have no value for this round. Play this token when another player is holding a high-value card such as 8 or 9. Those cards will have no value for that round.
